10 More Ways You Can Engage on LinkedIn

10 More Ways you can Engage on LI

If you caught the first part of this series, you know that engaging on LinkedIn is one of the best—if not the best—ways to harness to the power of LinkedIn. However, coming up with those tactics for engagement isn’t so easy. So we started this series by offering 10 ways to engage on LinkedIn if you’re just starting your LinkedIn journey. Those 10 suggestions focused on commenting.

Let’s continue on. Once you’ve mastered commenting, you’ll want to move on to sharing and commenting. So instead of just commenting on the post, you’ll want to do that and/or share the post on your page.

Here are five types of posts that you can share and comment on (in addition to the ones above, which are all very shareable).

  1. An article by the LinkedIn staff, and you’ll find these in the upper righthand corner of the homepage. There’s a nifty little share button on each article.

  2. A viral post from a LinkedIn influencer. You’ll recognize these because they typically have thousands of likes and comments.

  3. A job posting that either someone else shared or a company posted.

  4. A video that someone shared.

  5. A LinkedIn Live.

Next step? Share something you found on a different site. You may hear that LinkedIn prefers you stay on LinkedIn and that you shouldn’t send people off the platform. While that may be true to an extent, we firmly believe you should still throw these types of posts into the mix.

Here are five types of content to share with commentary on LinkedIn.

  1. An article that you read in an industry publication.

  2. A relevant news story that you can relate to your business or industry.

  3. An article from a reputable source that is relatable to your business/career story (people with unique career paths, working moms, career changes).

  4. A podcast episode that you found particularly interesting.

  5. A YouTube video (or another video source) from an expert in your field.

So there you have it—10 more ways you can ramp up your LinkedIn presence. In our third and final part of this series, we give you 20 original ideas for content on LinkedIn. For those not counting, that equals a total of 40 content ideas in this series. If you can commit to one of these a week, you will undoubtedly see results.
